Former LED ZEPPELIN Bassist Pens Tribute To JOHN BONHAM
October 1, 2005Former LED ZEPPELIN bassist John Paul Jones has penned the following tribute to late ZEPPELIN drummer John Bonham to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the the drum legend's death:
"So it's been 25 years. It still seems only yesterday that I was standing on stage next to him locking into another earth-moving groove. He always looked for a different angle, always came up with the unexpected. You had to pay attention when playing with him, but the ride was exhilarating and for me, as a musician, life-changing.
"It was wonderful to see him all over again with the release of the DVD, watching the whole cinema at the premier, stand and applaud at the end of 'Moby Dick', just as if it were a live show, was heart-warming and humbling.
"He is still with us."
In other news, The Toronto Sun recently published a two-page tribute to Bonham, reprinting an interview from April 1970. View the article at this location (.PDF file; Acrobat 7 reader required).
